American rapper Cardi B testifies in court in a civil lawsuit for allegedly assaulting a security guard in 2018 in Beverly Hills, California. According to the plaintiff, Emani Ellis, Cardi B verbally assaulted her before spitting on her. Emani Ellis claimed in 2018 that Cardi B, also known as ‘Belcalis Almanzar,’ was four months pregnant with her first child when the incident happened. Emani also claimed she was working in an office building when the hip-hop artist Cardi arrived for a private doctor’s appointment. Meanwhile, the news about Cardi’s pregnancy was not public at the time, and she was trying to keep the pregnancy away from the tabloids.
According to court documents, Emani claims Cardi B’s alleged attack was unprovoked and that she was struck multiple times on the head, face, and body by Cardi and one of her security guards. She also accused Cardi of working with unknown people to have all the recorded footage erased. Cardi denies the allegations and claims that Ellis told a friend on the phone that she was there and attempted to shoot a video of her. Ellis claimed she was fired after the alleged incident. Ellis is suing Cardi B for assault and battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Another Paycheck Or Another Credible Lawsuit
Is this another paycheck for Emani Ellis? Or is Cardi B guilty of these alleged accusations? Well, the star is defending herself: according to Cardi B, her privacy was invaded. In court Emani claimed she couldn’t afford the cost for plastic surgery after the incident and was treated by the doctor on a lien basis. Following the alleged assault, Emani further stated that she also received treatments from several psychologists between October 8th, 2022, and July 2nd, 2023, and was treated on a lien basis and still suffers psychologically from the 2018 incident. Cardi B is not the only hip-hop star to face a lawsuit in 2025. Harlem rapper ASAP Rocky scored victory in court against ASAP Relli, with Rihanna by his side.
Cardi B Vs Offset Divorce Drama
In a recent interview with music executive Zane Lowe, Cardi B shared details about her divorce drama with her ex-husband Offset and how she’s managed to stay friends with her exes except Offset. Cardi B is currently in a relationship with NFL wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Neither Offset, who recently attacked Cardi in his new album ‘Kiari,’ nor Stefon was spotted in court today.
